The silence as we embark
Is a moment out of time
From the bottom of these walls
My eyes devour the sublime
Winding sliver as blue as my mind’s eye

How do you move like a gull

Or a gentle fall back to the ground
The edgeless blur, sea of green
Peopled by the ancients
Rushing through this ever unfolding dream
Their silence echoes their patience
The view from stair nine
Stretches far beyond that borderline
I’ll never see what’s yours to see

A buoyant thought breaks on through
I’m a ship at the whim of the ocean
Rising up from things I once knew
Is a resigned quietude… to the mercy of motion
I take the longer road back to the sand
In the off-chance I’ll catch your path
My feet move slowly, strangers in this land
But I know the fog will lift, when I make you laugh again

We take another pull from that sweet Rueda potion

Must be a reason why we’re swept up in this motion
Caught between what’s gone and yet to come

Jack Tolan is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter based out of Wilson, Wyoming.
Tolan is a founding member of the Jackson Hole based funk outfit, Sneaky Pete & The Secret Weapons.
In December 2018, Tolan joined forces with longtime compadres and campfire pickers Eric Shedd and Alex Paul to form the acoustic americana trio, Birds of Play.
Snacks is Tolan’s first solo release.
